The observer and the life being lived
What changes when you notice that you are both having the experience and aware of it?
There is the part of me living the moment—the human being feeling, choosing, remembering, and responding. And there is also the awareness that notices it all.
The awareness does not need to push the experience away. It simply sees. In that seeing, a little space appears between who I am and what is moving through me.
I can feel afraid without becoming fear. I can face uncertainty without becoming uncertainty. I can acknowledge my circumstances without allowing them to name me.
This does not make me less human. It lets me hold my humanity with more tenderness. The observer and the one being observed are not two separate beings; they are different experiences of this one life.
Sometimes that recognition is profound. Sometimes it simply makes me smile. Either way, I remember: there is more room inside me than this single moment suggests.
